Dentures

3D rendering of partial dentures being placed on a lower jaw with missing back teeth.Tooth decay, gum disease, and facial injuries cause tooth loss, and by visiting us at East Portland Dentistry, we have a solution for you. Dentures are synthetic replacements for missing natural teeth. The dentures we offer in our clinic can replace a few missing teeth, or all teeth. Missing teeth can cause facial muscles to sag over time. Dentures are designed to help fill out your facial profile and improve your appearance. They also make it easier to eat, chew, and speak regularly.

The different types of dentures include: complete dentures, which replace all missing teeth, gums, and tissues; partial removal dentures replacing some missing teeth (can be removed any time according to the patient's preference); implant-retained dentures replacing some missing teeth and can add retention from tooth loss; and immediate dentures allowing tooth extractions and denture installation in the same day.

There are a few primary causes of tooth loss. They include periodontal disease, tooth extraction, natural aging, poor oral care, tooth decay, and facial or jaw injury. You are also at high risk for tooth loss if you are over 35 years of age, male, smoke or use tobacco products, have rheumatoid arthritis, have diabetes or high blood pressure, don't get professional teeth cleanings and exams twice a year, neglect dental care - including brushing twice a day, flossing daily, using fluoride, and rinsing with mouthwash.

Why Dentures?

We offer complete dentures called full dentures, where we replace entire sets of teeth. After all other tooth restorations are deemed ineffective, complete dentures may be the best option. They are entirely customized and restore the shape and look of natural teeth, improving chewing.

We also have removable partial dentures, which consist of replacement teeth attached to a plastic, gum-colored base. They are supported by a cast metal framework for strength. They restore the natural look, feel, and function of your teeth, bringing life to your smile.

At East Portland Dentistry, we also do implant-retained dentures which support an entire set of teeth. They increase stability and improve chewing power better than traditional dentures and can be more affordable than replacing all the teeth with implants.
